Recappin’ the MUNRO out of the DN Awards
29 Dec

As fast as your money disappeared from your wallet when you went to Luke Bilyk’s birthday party, the 2010 Degrassi Nation Awards went as quick. We saw Stephen Stohn, Stefan Brogren, Ray Ablack and yes, me. (and I apologise for that!) All in all the award show was fun and I hope you enjoyed it, but the winners is something I will eventually discuss with you today. For right now I’ll discuss Stephen’s hint that was mention at the very beginning of the show.
When Epitome first sent me his clip, I was also a little bit confused as to what was meant. Since you guys are mostly in the tweens to teens range and possibly can’t dissect this yourself, I will do my best.
“In the picture of Julia that something strange happens to, Munro is in the picture as well”
Everyone on Twitter and elsewhere is thinking in the literal sense of the word “Picture” but not thinking out of the box. Obviously if you look at the picture of Julia in Eli’s room you won’t find Eli. Stephen was clearly talking about a storyline that Eli and Julia will be featured in rather than the “picture.” Come on people.
While we’re on the subject of the hint that Stephen revealed I want to mention the backlash I’ve received because it wasn’t BIG enough. A hint is a hint and nothing more. A hint is supposed to make people think, not tell you what exactly to expect and that’s exactly what happened.
As for the awards itself, to be honest it was a complete joke. For those of you who think that it wasn’t a popularity contest, I beg to differ. I would have been fine with him winning them all except for the fact he received at least 60 percent of the votes with over 20 other people to pick from. This was a complete disgrace to the other nominees, the producers of the DN show and most of all, the voters. With all bad things, come good things though. I’ve taken what happened this year and have decided not to allow fan girl voting next year. Like anything else major, I will have the writers vote for them instead so we avoid any “OMG Munro will totes sleep with me if I vote for him” voting drama. Because the awards were basically tainted I wanted to give you my choices for who should’ve won.
Originally Produced Fan Video of the Year: Even though I love the Anya Twins (who did a fantastic job), and what can I say about the drum cover, I would have chosen the Luke fan girls video. Even though I despise Luke for charging to go to his birthday party, I do have to commend those ladies for the effort. It was hilarious. They received 93% of the vote.
2010 Degrassi Nation Rookie of the Year: This is very difficult because all the new cast members shot straight to the top in terms of storylines. Jordan did a fantastic job with her transgender storyline but when I think of Rookie of the Year, I think of the person who shot straight to the top of the show. That person was Munro Chambers. Don’t get me wrong, I hate how much attention he’s detracting away from others but he plays Eli Goldsworthy like a champ!
2010 Degrassi Nation Moment of the Year (Presented by Ray Ablack): This one was also chosen correctly as that was arguably the biggest moment of the year. Congratulations to Munro Chambers and also to James Edward Campbell.
2010 Degrassi Nation Couple of the Year (Presented by Stefan Brogren): lol at “Brogs, what it do?” With all the grief I give Eclare fan girls, I have to give this one to them. Though I love Ziley. It’s hard for me to chose between the two, but Eclare would’ve received my vote.
2010 Degrassi Nation Actress of the Year (Presented by Panther, the Epitome cat): I love Aislinn and everyone who was nominated. With that said, I just love Annie Clark. LOVE her. I would have chosen her mainly because of the performance she put on with the abuse storyline. Fantastic job, Annie!
2010 Degrassi Nation Actor of the Year (Presented by Melissa Sutton, Assistant to Executive Producers): Even though Munrois a fantastic actor, I would’ve chose Landon Liboiron. Such a quality and believable actor. Can’t wait for his new opportunity takes his career!
2010 Degrassi Nation Song of the Year (Presented by Erin & Kary): The winner was VV Brown, and I’ll stick with that pick. All four of these songs are so good and it’s too hard to say anything different that who you already picked.
2010 Degrassi Nation Moment of the Year (Presented by Sarena Parmar): Are you guys kidding me? The kid has a messy room. Well, I guess a transgender storyline isn’t as important that. Obviously the moment of the year for me is Adam’s transgendered status is revealed. Now when I think of epic moments in the history of Degrassi I can add Adam into the mix.
2010 Degrassi Nation Episode of the Year (Presented by Stephen Stohn): Gee. Am I surprised that “Umbrella” won? NO! I loved “Body is a Cage,” and its too bad it was in season 10 because in any other season it would’ve been my favorite. Just like Stephen Stohn, my favorite episode is also “All Falls Down.” It had suspense, drama and a cliffhanger, what else do you want. Well, I guess it was more ECLARE…
So there you go, hopefully you all enjoyed it and what a performance by Emily Marie Alvarado. That girl is going places. I wish her the best luck in her future endeavors.
I also hope I didn’t ruin the awards with my presence. ” I can’t talk today..” LOL. Thanks to everyone who was involved and those who watched. PEACE. LOVE. MUNRO. I think I just puked a little.
