Transgender storyline comes to a head August 11th & 12th

A story from the Winnipeg Free Press, confirms what we have obviously known all along. Adam will be a transgender character. If you recall my interview she couldn’t say anything about the subject. In this interview, Stefan Brogren tells the paper that they wanted to handle the transgender issue with such care, that they went to some advocacy groups to make sure the were doing it right. Both Teen Nick and Much Music have been in talks with groups to make sure they aren’t hurting the suject matter. In the story we learn that the school will find out about the transgender issue on August 11th and 12th on both networks.

Formerly Degrassi: The Next Generation and now known simply known as Degrassi, will have 48 episodes and even Teen Nick had some questions. “Is this even possible.” Its obviously great for the network as it is there only show.

Finally, it will be interesting to see how Luke Bilyk’s character will act toward his step-brother Adam, seeing as he is homophobic as confirmed by the story. We have seen him look compassionate toward Adam, but we will have to wait!
